Motos in church

Email conversation:

No adventures for now but we did have an investigator come to church with us yesterday which was great. his name is Alberto and he is about 5ft. nothing! haha he is super cool.
Our other investigator didn't come and we went to his house afterwards to check up on him and he was hammered he had an earring in which was new and he said that the hospital put it in... not sure if real or not but i don't think so! jaja what are ya gonna do??

That is hilarious!  Maybe he's not quite ready yet. Lol!  Sounds like there is a big problem with alcohol down there.  Yes?

Alcohol and sex!! but strangely enough they seam to go together!! not to be gross but Sunday mornings the streets are lined with beer bottles and used condoms.

jaja!  hey i pulled out some money to buy a soccer ball because our Pdays here aren't that fun and we used it for about an hour and then it popped!!  : (

Oh bummer!  Can you buy a frisbee there?

no!! the only thing to do here is play futbol ( soccer )

If we sent one, could you teach them how to use it?  You could play Frisbee football?

oh id love that!! all the north american elders always ask if someone has a frisbee!!

Early morning soccer, and gun shot!

Early morning soccer

Howdy,

This week was full of stories. jajaja everything from soccer at 3am, bullets, progress and rain.

That sounds a little bit more interesting than it really is. But it has been raining a lot here which is great. It makes it a lot less hot.

Soccer at 3 is a pretty dope story though. We had to take to sisters to the terminal where the bus leaves to go to Asuncion and the only bus left at 2:30 in the morning.  SantanĂ is a little bit dangerous at 2:30 in the morning so we needed to accompany them to the terminal so that they wouldn't get robbed or something. We decided to call up the other elders here in the city and invite them to play some soccer after the sisters were safely on the bus. To my surprise they came and we played soccer until 5 in the morning. it was super fun and an experience that I wont forget.

This Saturday we decided to go by and visit an investigator who has tons of potential to progress and eventually be baptized. So we stopped by his house to invite him to come to church with us on Sunday. jaja  He told us that he wouldn't be able to because he accidentally shot himself in the arm and he needed to go have surgery on Sunday. Who shoots themselves in the arm?

We gave him a priesthood blessing to comfort him and let him know that he would be alright. I think he was a little bit weirded out because that was the first blessing he had seen or received in his life. Afterward he told us that he had felt something pass through him. I would assume that would be the Spirit.  : )

The work here is moving along. Not too many investigators progressing but we did have 3 less actives come to church yesterday which was fantastic.

Oh and we have changes tomorrow but i don't suspect that i will receive changes. But that's about it for this week. I love you all and hope you have a great week.

Elder Benevente and Jeffrey

Pork...the other white meat!

So while chatting with Jeffrey I asked him about the "whitewashing" thing and he said that they were asked to basically go into another area to help the missionaries there because they were really struggling and getting down because there were only 2 people at church...them. They just needed a pick-me-up and to know that they aren't alone. They went in for 2 days just to give the others some help and encouragement. I asked if it helped and he said "I hope so." I love that there is always someone to lend a helping hand. A great lesson to learn, no matter what side of it you're on.
Oh ya, and he helped slaughter a pig! Eeew.

I think this is Elder Benevente

500,000.00 for 3 stiches

First of all we has the awesome opportunity to go to the Temple with our zone and another one from Luque! In the other zone was my trainer, Elder Fielding. It was really good to get to see him again and catch up. I learned so much in the Temple. And it was all around a good experience.

Next we had a service project with a member. We chopped a tree down with machetes= super fun! Until my companion cut himself. jaja We went to the hospital and he got 3 stitches. We had to pay $500,000.00 guaranis which is about $100 dollars. I offered my super glue but he didnt dig that idea. jaja

This week we were walking down this highway and there was a lady on a motorcycle that hit a speedbump going about 40mps. She wiped out and slid for about 20 yards. We were the first ones to get to her. Almost all of her body was one big road rash and she must have hit her head because she had a massive bulge on her head and where the bulge was there was no hair, just a bloody mess.
After running to get to her she was just whispering Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. We just stuck with her until someone else could come and help her. She wanted to go to the hospital but she didn't want to leave her motorcycle, she wanted to drive it to the hospital.  I told her no because she was probably concussed, if not worse. Other people heard me tell her no and they weren't really happy with me. They started yelling at me and told me to leave and let her do what she wants. So I did what they asked and left. She hopped on her moto and left. I hope nothing else happened.

Last of all, We had a lesson with one of our investgater who was absolutely hammered. We asked him if he had been drinking and he told us no but he definately was. I asked him if I could smell his "coke", he told me that I probably shouldnt. I asked him why and he said "because you'll know that I'm lying".  Drunk people are so dumb. jaja  We asked him if he'd like to change his life and he said yes. I told him to pour out his alcohol and after looking at me for a good couple minutes not saying anything, he stood up and poured out his alcohol. It was very surprising but so awesome at the same time. I couldn't help but smile.

I sure hope he progresses. I guess we will see.

This week we also get to skype with the fam and im super stoked to see em!! I'm going to hit a year here in a couple weeks, that means after this week I only get to skype 2 more times!! Its flying by!!

I hope you all have a great week!! I love you guys!!
